Bless the old dears, next time I'm in the post office I'd like to be able help them by suggesting better alternatives, but I can't think of any, come on , think hard & lets help the aged
thanks laurie, I'll get them some clothes from the charity shop and give them to the most 'deserving' in the queue
Unfortunately many of them are unable to do their own laundry or are near laundry facilities as they may have been before.
Regular bathing helps but if they put the dirty clothing back on then the problem remains unresolved.
So from what I have seen, personal hygiene and regular baths or showers as well as fresh, clean clothing to put on after is important.
It helps to launder their bedding and sleepwear on a regular basis as well.
One little grannie I looked after only had one set of night clothes before I came along. It was a long, high necked flannel one that she just loved.so much that it never got washed. I was in the Thrift store, looking for something for myself when I came across about a half a dozen of them for about a buck each so I picked them up. They were clean, but I like to wash anything I get from the Thrift store just to be sure. Anyway, the next time I went to her place to help her with her bath, I took them over and three of them fit her perfectly. I bagged her old unwashed one and felt if it were washed it would fall apart so as I went to do her laundry I tossed it out. She was so happy that I found them for her and she's been clean and comfortable ever since.
The other three didn't go to waste either as I had two other grannies that were in the same predicament. I was so happy that I could bring some comfort and joy to a few grannies.
I never charged them for the nightgowns and it made my job easier and more pleasant.

They don't wear heavy perfume because they think they smell bad. They probably think it makes them smell better. You can't really help them because the problem is physiological. Ha ha. They want to be young and fresh. You could tell one that the perfume she is wearing is not right for her. But that's about it.

Older people can't help having urinary incontenience and if they try to cover it up with perfume at least they are trying to have some dignity, you should have a bit more respect for the elderly at least they have respect for others and realize they have a problem and try to put what they think is nice perfume to cover up there problem

They smell like that, to deter the attention of "Grannybangers". They are quite frail, and any unsolicited attentions in "that" department, could be very deleterious to their failing health.
So leave them alone. They have lived long enough to have the choice to smell however they want to.
