I love patchouli and you’re right its not here. A nice scent all the same but I much prefer Black Orchid.

Some well-loved lilies include Annick Goutal’s De Lys and Antica Famacistas Casablanca. And just today I sniffed through the Harajuku Lovers fragrances, and was surprised to find I quite enjoyed Love. Turns out that it has paperwhites in it, along with a bunch of other stuff that adds up to mild musky sweetness. It’s probably not the definitive paperwhite frag, but it does have a cute doll-head bottle, so there.

I will have to check this scent out because I love lilies. Any other suggestions for someone who loves lilies and paper whites?

I agree–no patchouli for me, either. V. disappointing considering how much I like Black Orchid and *skanky* patchouli!
Ooh – Ambre Sultan …
Ooh – Ambre Sultan was my first amber. I love wearing it in the desert heat of summer. And Montale Patchouli Leaves – I love its journey from herby earth to warm chocolate. Isn’t it great how perfumes play tricks on your mind?

Don’t know if you’re a Spendy Wendy, but Tuberose Gardenia also comes in a parfum, which is gorgeousness incarnate. And for white florals, Frederic Malle’s Carnal Flower is mind-meltingly beautiful: heady, intoxicating, deep tuberose overload, while still smelling a bit stemmy and fresh somewhere in there.

I have yet to try Velvet Gardenia and I’m not sure how my nose would react to a blue-cheesy gardenia, but I adore Estee Lauder’s Tuberose Gardenia and plan on purchasing a full bottle when my decant runs out. I’m eager for summer so I can wear my white florals! =)

I do admire Mr Ford for his bold statements in smell – no wussypants “water infused with ozone” frags for him! If you like gardenia, have you checked out TF’s Velvet Gardenia? Deep, heady, blue-cheesy (head-cheesy?). And Estee Lauder’s Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia is a gardenia swoon-fest.

I love White Patchouli but you’re right – no patchouli! My favourite Tom Ford scent is Viole de Fleur – gardenia at its most sexy! I couldn’t expect anything less than amazing from the man who formulated Gucci Rush =)
If you like Amber …
If you like Amber Absolute, then you’ll love Ambre Sultan. This one, to me, feels like a smouldering amber. I was also given a White Patchouli sample, but this one is way too floral (even for women IMHO). If you want Patchouli, try Montale Patchouli Leaves – sensual amber, vanilla, and patchouli. Doesn’t get any better than that.

I practically drank TF’s Amber Absolute all last winter! It’s rare for me to finish a bottle since I’m so perfume-promiscuous! But I sure poslished off Amber Absolute, and am down to my little freebie bottles of the stuff. The others in the line are all intriguing, but none cried out for my money. However, I am circling Tom Ford for Men Extreme.

Have you tried any from the Tom Ford Private Blends? I find Tobacco Vanille, Noir de Noir, Amber Absolute, and Tuscan Leather to be amazing.

Thanks for the props! Am getting busy with more niche reviews. My goal is to try to cast a wide enough net to pull in the sniffing newbies as well as the certified perfume-heads. Am currently losing my mind over Amouage Jubilation XXV as well as Attar!
