Your personal choice should depend on your body chemistry. Some of the parfumes can smell really nice in the bottle or on the paper but if you will wear it for an hour or so the scent will change when your natural skin oils will blend together and it can smell really nasty.
My recommendation would be to try some of them when you go to the mall, spray both your wrists with two different ones and walk around for an hour or so. Than smell it and see if you like it or not. Also it will give you an idea how long this parfume will stay on your skin.
Personally I stuck with two parfumes that guys really like. One of them is L'eau Par Kenzo Perfume by Kenzo. It's very refreshing flowery scent.
The other one is Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden. My mother is very sensitive to scents-they make her sick if they are certain strengths or too much of one flower or note-but this was fine for her, so I can wear it around her. It's so nice to be told "Ooooh, you smell good!". It's very fresh and crisp, and it does remind me of a green tea essential oil. It can be light to moderate, depending on how spray it and how you want to smell.
Also I like Green Tea line because I can get a deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, bodywash and bodylotion – all the same scent.
Now where to wear it: spray your favorite parfume on your hair (just once), wrists, back of your neck. This will keep your scent longer. But if you have same scent of body lotion and deodorant spray just your hair.
If you prefer stronger scents try Kenzo Le Monde by Kenzo. It was introduced in 1997. I got it the first time in Moscow and it's still one of my favorite scents. I use it only when I go out to the theater or opera house. Very sofisticated. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. FRAGRANCE NOTES – a light floral with top notes of green fruits and sweet woods.
Now about guys. I learned that guys don't like very strong smells. They prefer your natural smell + light scent of parfume. I heard a lot of complains from guys when girl will walk by and the "tail" of parfume scent will follow her. Most of the guys will make a comment that it's too much or she stinks, etc.
So be carefull with what you wear and how much.
