Flower was launched in 2000 in time for that most romantic of days – Valentines day. I think this was a very shrewd move on the Kenzo marketing department as this perfume is the epitome of romance and I have a sneaky feeling that there has been many a happy recipient of this perfume ever since.
Flower has a really distinctive signature and once you are accustomed to its unique smell you will never forget it. Flower is a soft and gentle blend of Bulgarian Rose, Cassia Hedone, Wild Hawthorn, Parma violet, Vanilla and White Musk.
The fragrance is really heady and full bodied. Think cottage gardens bursting with stocks and gardenias, freesias and nicotinas; think warm, balmy nights heavy with the pungent aroma of roses and lilies after a light rain shower and you have an idea of the essence of this perfume. It is fresh and yet provocative, warm and yet light. Sassy and yet pure. It is delicate and innocent enough for day wear and yet just heavy enough to be sensual for those sultry hot summer nights. To my mind Kenzo has struck the perfect balance with this fragrance.
Flower while pleasantly pungent is also very long lasting. Once applied to the wrist the vanilla, Bulgarian rose and Parma violet are easily detected and after an hour or so these settle into the background and the white musk, Hawthorne and Cassia come to the fore enveloping the wearer in subtle, sensual wafts of fragrance.
I believe the beauty of flower lies in its subtlety and timelessness. Although there is a lot going on with the fragrance it isn?t overpowering or cloying. I think its secret lies in its freshness mixed with the sensual vanilla and white musk which really create a femine womanly sophisticated and yet gentle scent.
One spray of flower to the pulse points on your wrist and throat will be enough to keep you smelling delicious all day long. Flower is supplied as an Eau de Parfum rather than Eau de Toilette so it lasts for hours.
This is a very feminine fragrance and it is also very floral so if your preference is for the spicy, earthy notes this one may not be for you.
