Black Pearls by Elizabeth Taylor. I remember there was contention just prior to it coming out and it never really made it into stores.
But it’s still available online. I can’t dig up any more info on it. What I’d like to know is whether the perfume is leftover from 1996 or might they still be making it? And if they are why isn’t it available in physical stores?
Any perfume industry people out here who can shed light on how these things might work? Or on how to track down more info?
I used to work in a store that sold over 2,000 perfumes

many of them not available in the states.
I'll use one as an example.
Yves Saint Laurent came out with a perfume called Champagne.
It was produced previous to release, then released for a short bit, and then the region (literally, the region on the map) sued YSL for using the name champagne because it refferred to the bubbly beverage produced there.
So he stopped selling it, and had to agree in court not to market it…..He later ended up changing the name, and sold it under Yvress

However, there were still bottles of it that wholesellers and such could get their hands on….so we had it, as did a few other places…
.
I'm sure there was some legal problem in selling Black Pearls, but that there were still bottles in warehouses somewhere.
Good Luck – If you love it, scoop up a bottle while you can.

My guess is: it’s either discontinued, or made in such small quantities that they have to limit the distribution to online sales to reduce overhead costs and keep it profitable.
