So I just got hired at Macys(in the San diego, CA area) for a seasonal position, part time in Women's Fragrance. Now at my last job (which wasn't retail) I was making $11/hr + commision which was great for me being a freshman in college and not having many bills to pay. So I put in my application at Macy's that this was my desired salary but they told me that all seasonal hires start off at a whole $8/hr and if I do get offered a permanent position that I could discuss a higher pay.
So if you've worked at Macy's or have some kind of valuable info, what's the highest that you've heard anyone making in Women's Fragrances and do you think I could get paid as much as my last job once the season is over??
I think the most macys will go is $10 for very experienced people. I had a year of experience in cosmetics and they offered me $9 plus commission and cosmetics supposedly gets paid the most out of all departments. Yeah working in department stores suck believe me. but u will get a lot in commission dont worry!!!! jus work there for the holidays…
oh btw this one guy i know worked in fragrances for like 2 years and he was the top seller and macys only offered him $8 an hour…so dont expect a pay increase…. :-\ sorry to be a wet blanket :-\

Wow! I woulda thought they would pay more. You should go work at the Hustler Store in SD. I'm pretty sure the pay is better! Also, if they hired you for seasonal, I doubt you'll be there past Christmas.
