well, yea, cause you can’t smell it first.
but like, usually people don’t just buy one they’ve never smelled online.
they either are:
- getting it as a gift for someone who has smelled it
- buying it because someone they know had it, & they’ve smelled it before,
- or like you said, refilling.

Pointless may not be the right word. I’d use “not very smart”. It would only work if you know what it smells like, or you are getting a gift for someone (they wanted it). I agree, though, it’s probably better to buy it in the store.
