I own Rocabar (Hermes) and it’s fairly nice. But, what are your opinions on Bel Ami and Equipage.

  2. Now that you say …
Now that you say that about Irish Spring, I totally agree. I kept wondering where I had smelt it before. Artemisia and Endymion are so far my favorites. When the vials run out, then it’s time to go to the local Penhaligon;s distributor. There are several out here. Thanks for the info!

  3. I’ve smelled Black …
I’ve smelled Black Aoud which reminded me a bit of Czech and Speake’s No. 88. An interesting and dark fragrance. I need to try more Montale. The only Tom Ford I’ve smelled is Black Orchid. I need to branch out there as well.

  4. The essential …
The essential difference is that the spray is just an atomizer that distributes the fragrance in a fine mist as opposed to the cologne which is a much larger bottle meant for splashing the fragrance on. It’s a personal preference. I prefer spray. Uses less but still gets good coverage. English Fern reminds me of Irish Spring soap!

  5. Hey Woodsmoke, I’m …
Hey Woodsmoke, I’m going to ask what may seem like a stupid question but the answer to which will determine which of the Penhaligon fragrances I get. What is the difference between spray and cologne and which do you think is the better value? I just put on English Fern, but it’s a bit odd at the moment. We’ll see in half an hour. Thanks for the input. All the best, EB.

  6. I’m glad Endymion …
I’m glad Endymion can be unisex, because it’s really growing on me. I’ll go through the rest of the box fragrance by fragrance and let you know what I think. For now, Endymion is going on my wish list!

  7. Endymion, I think, …
Endymion, I think, could be totally unisex. In fact, I’ve read of wives who enjoy the Endymion more than the hubbies they buy it for! Similarly, I’ve heard of guys who wear Chanel No. 5, Guerlain’s Shalimar and Mitsouko (my mom wears all three of these LOL). I LOVE the Lily of the Valley. Lavandula is a very true lavender smell. Artemisia is nice too. Oh and Bluebell is a nice English country garden smell. Reminds me of hyacinths.

  8. Part Two: Quercus, …
Part Two: Quercus, English Fern and Hammam Bouquet. This comment is to follow the one wherein I end with Blenheim Bouquet, because YouTube only allows so many characters per post. Again, thanks. I smell like a man from Manhattan! Too bad there isn’t one here to appreciate it. Have a nice weekend.

  9. Dear Woodsmoke,

    Dear Woodsmoke,

The fragrance library came! I was only going to sniff them, but in opening the Endymion, it had other plans, so I am now actually wearing it. It is a very smooth smell – hard to find the top note and bass, in other words. I really like it. I almost wish I were a man and could pass wearing this in public! Thanks for the tips. I’ll let you know how the others in the set pan out. They are: Artemisia, Malabah, Lavandula, Lily of the Valley, Bluebell, Blenheim Bouquet,

  10. I’ll let you know …
I’ll let you know once the “fragrance library” arrives. It was a better financial bet to get than a whole bottle of any one of their fragrances. Now I can choose at my leisure. Have a good weekend!

  11. Howdy! Well, the …
Howdy! Well, the Penhaligon’s stuff is definitely “out there” in terms of smell. I find that people tend to either LOVE it to death or HATE their stuff with a passion. The Blenheim will definitely be an acquired taste. :) Can’t wait to hear what you think of them. My brother likes English Fern a lot, and my mom loves Penhaligon’s Lily and Spice and Ellenisia (I love Ellenisia a lot too).

  12. Hey, Woodsmoke, i …
Hey, Woodsmoke, i couldn’t sleep, so I got up and while listening to your critique of fragrances, went to Amazon where they had a sampler of Penhaligon fragrances for $20! The box has Endymion and Blenheim Bouquet amongst others, so I’m really looking forward to expanding my nasal repertoire. I’ll check back later with my impressions. Thanks for the recommendations.

    Three particularly …
Three particularly good niche brands that your passing over are Frederick Malle, Montale, and Amouage. Golden, Lime, and Black Aoud are out of this world. Musc Ravageur, Leau d’Hiver, and Bigarrade Concentre are some good ones from Malle. And Amouge Silver, Dia, and Reflection are simply to die for. I would recommend those if you haven’t tried them. Also Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, Aoud Wood, and Moss Breeches are very good, as well.

  14. woodsmoke : if you …
woodsmoke : if you even come to paris I would tell you the adresses of each cie.’s original shop, besides the sales corners in the Department Stores. DYPTIQUE lovely own shop in St. Germain des Prés, PENHALIGON’S has 2 own little shops and HERMES of course. COTE BASTIDE is another of these cies with a lovely shop in St. Germain des Prés quartier.
Unfortunately your $ is now quite high for shoping in Europe. But we still have many american tourists here and surprisingly a lots of young ones.

  15. I’m jealous! I …
I’m jealous! I need to head back to France sometime so I can stock up. Thanks for the message. :)

  16. LOL Fragrance might …
LOL Fragrance might really be my medicine — seems like if I’m feeling lousy, a spritz or two makes me feel better. But actually, I ended up replacing my medicine cabinet with a medicine bureau — with about 6 shelves, so I could make room for medicine. LOL I highly recommend the more unisex stuff I have like L’Artisan’s Passage d’Enfer and Diptyque Philosykos. I’ve had both men and women really compliment me on those. My mom loves Passage d’Enfer.

  17. Many thanks. I do …
Many thanks. I do also love verly much the fragrances you explain in this video. My absolute favourites are Orange Verte from Hermes, Blenheim Bouquet from Penhalligon’s and Phylosikos from Dyptique. I live in Paris which means no problem to buy these items.

  18. Wow. I feel like a …
Wow. I feel like a neophyte. I only have Coco, Addict, Flower by Kenzo and Gucci. If this is what is inside your medicine cabinet, where do you keep your medicine? Or is fragrance your medicine? God, I just want to go find some of these bottles and smell them now!

  19. Very nice video! …
Very nice video! you should do more videos with the perfume theme, Thank you:)
